Dance classes at Revolve Dance Alliance

Whether you’re new to dance or are preparing for a career in professional dance, our dance curriculum includes a variety of genres that are expertly designed to meet both the interests and commitment levels of each of our students.

Pre-K Kinder Classes

Designed for children ages 3-5, children will learn basic ballet movement and terminology through fun songs and the use of props. Activities constantly change and will allow your child to build motor skills, grace, confidence, and teamwork. Our pre-k kinder dance classes introduce the basic steps of ballet and tap.

Youth Dance Programs

Our youth dance programs are designed for those looking for a fun and professional recreational dance program. Beginner level dance classes are geared towards students with little to no prior training, with students ranging from 6-8 years old. Intermediate level dance classes are designed for dancers with a few years of experience who are looking to take their dance education to the next level. Last, but certainly not least, advanced level dance classes are for the dancer with multiple years experience and technical proficiency.

Competition Company

The Revolve Dance Alliance competition team is designed for the very serious dancer who has mastered all elements of dance training. Students are taught with the assumption that they are training for work and a professional dance environment after their high school years are complete. Registration for the competition company is audition-based and must be approved by a Director.

  • Ballet technique classes are the foundation for training and focus on developing a solid ballet foundation with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras).

  • Lyrical dance is a style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance, similarly oriented towards the dancer’s emotional responses. Music used for lyrical dance is typically emotionally charged, serving as inspiration for the dancers’ movement and expressions. Movements are characterized by fluidity and grace, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another, holding the finishing steps as long as possible.

  • Contemporary dance is an expressive style of dance that abandons the rigid, centered aspect of classical forms of dance and utilizes unconventional movements from styles around the world. It incorporates certain elements of ballet, modern dance, and jazz. Contemporary dance is also very interpretive in its choreography and often focuses on emotions and storytelling.

  • Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body to accent the musical rhythems. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles including street jazz, percussive, broadway, contemporary, and lyrical with an emphasis on energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.

  • The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their bodies. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds and having fun.

  • A high-energy dance form using the latest music mixed with movements that are influenced by some of today’s top video choreographers. Hip hop is a broad collection of urban street dance styles including breaking, popping, locking, turning, jerkin, krumping, and often incorporates elements of freestyle.

  • Modern class will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance techniques including suspension and release, fall and recovery, and the use of momentum and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work, partnering, and various methods of improvisation.

  • Acting, vocals, and broadway jazz movement techniques are brought together and performed to songs from popular musicals. Dancers will also practice in heels.

  • This commercial dance style derives from hip hop and commercial jazz dancing, often highly syncopated musicality and involving intricate movements.

  • This class is designed for dancers who want to take their dance training to a higher level. They will learn how to advance their turning and leaping ability while also working on flexibility and strength. Classes will be designed to help each dancer identify and work on specific techniques and skills needed to improve their understanding and performance of these specific moves.

  • This class is a combination of deep stretching and body conditioning. This class is heavy in cardio to increase endurance for the dancer. Strong muscles are vital for protecting the body and of course, improving dance skills! Conditioning classes are for dance students, as well as for those who would like greater mobility, strength, and core function for their daily lives. The class will use a variety of strength-building methods and also experience a variety of stretching and mobilizing techniques.

  • This class focuses on dance improvisation and composition for any style using full-body movement, fluidity, and floor work. Dancers will also become familiar with improvisation, creating movement on the spot without prior planning or choreography. The class will use fun, game-like improv exercises to increase dancers’ confidence and creativity in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.

  • A dance form that combines acrobatics and gymnastics with dance. Dancers will explore acrobatic movements and how to confidently execute those movements. Acro encourages coordination, spatial awareness, and fine & gross motor skills. Students will increase their strength and flexibility while learning a variety of tumbling and gymnastics skills.
